David LoganThe minister

We are very sad to announce that our minister, David Logan, died on Wednesday 21st August 2019 in a hospice in Dundee. His wife, Catriona, was with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Catriona.

Dumfries: St Mary’s-Greyfriars’ Church reopens for worship at 11.30am on Sunday next, 29th 2020, the first Sunday in Advent. The Service will begin with a short Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial in the church vestibule with the congregation’s wreath laid by Dick Geddes, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday. There is a need to reserve your seats, as attendances are being capped at 40. Please make seat reservations by telephoning beforehand our church contact, Isobel Evans, on 01387 263630. People making a reservation should telephone between 10am and 12 noonon the Wednesday before the Sunday service. During the service the following Sunday, 6th December 2020, there’s to be the infant baptism of a member’s child. Advance notice is given that on Sunday 29th December 2020, the last Sunday of 2020, Communion is to be celebrated. For the foreseeable future, the YouTube messages of our Locum Minister, Rev. Douglas Irving, will continue to be broadcast.

Our sister congregation, Caerlaverock Church, is not re-opening for worship for the foreseeable future. Douglas’s weekly YouTube message will continue to be accessible on the Caerlaverock Community Association website.
